Salvo Vecchio – ASTRA

Salvo Vecchio is one of the most recognizable figures in the Italian rock and metal scene — founding guitarist of Ivory, the acclaimed melodic hard rock band from Turin whose catalogue has earned consistent praise for its technical solidity and melodic identity. His work with Ivory brought him into collaboration with some of the most respected musicians on the national circuit.

In 2024, he founded Shady Lane alongside Ivory bassist Luca Bernazzi — a melodic progressive metal project released on Underground Symphony Records. Their debut album There and Back, a concept record drawing from the DNA of Dream Theater and Queensrÿche, came out in March 2025, mixed and mastered at Elnor Studio by Mat Stancioiu.

ASTRA is a different chapter entirely.

A fully instrumental solo album where the guitar is the sole protagonist. The title gestures toward space and depth, and the music follows through: tracks move between moments of rock intensity and more suspended, atmospheric textures, held together by a consistent melodic approach and writing that puts emotion first. A record made for guitar enthusiasts, but open to anyone willing to listen.
